Dear Katarzyna,
Thank you for presenting your Resident Center Project—a proposal that reveals both architectural sensitivity and a deep respect for historical context.
As an architect and juror for the Inspireli Awards, I was especially moved by your careful consideration of proximity to the 14th-century collegiate church. Your decision to respond through materiality and form—rather than compete—is a mature and commendable approach. Architecture, especially in such layered historical sites, must know when to speak and when to listen. Your project listens gracefully.
The concept of a brick wall enclosing the space, offering both shelter and structure, is powerful. It not only references the protective character of historic urban forms but also creates a space of calm and inward reflection—a courtyard that contrasts beautifully with the public exterior. The arched openings echoing ecclesiastical motifs are particularly poetic, bridging past and present through subtle design choices.
I also appreciate the layered experience you offer—at ground level with cobblestones and greenery, and above, with the terrace walk. The integration of an elevator within the wall is a smart and discreet move, allowing accessibility without compromising the integrity of the form.
Your project balances history and modernity with elegance. I encourage you to keep cultivating this thoughtful balance—it's what makes architecture timeless.
Thumbs up.
Warm regards,
Lucciana Nasrallah
