Work description

Internship on Bioactive Compounds from Fruit Peels for Antifungal ApplicationsOverview: This internship provides a unique opportunity to explore the antimicrobial potential of pomegranate and jackfruit peels. Interns will learn advanced analytical techniques, compound isolation, and antifungal testing against plant pathogens. The project integrates laboratory research with product development, aiming to create sustainable biocontrol solutions for agricultural use.Objectives:1) Identify and evaluate bioactive compounds in fruit peels using GC-MS, LC-MS, and phytochemical screening.2) Isolate and quantify punicalagin and quercetin through HPTLC and confirm structural integrity via spectral analysis.3) Test antifungal efficacy of isolated compounds against key plant pathogens and develop prototype formulations.Outcomes:1) Gain expertise in analytical chemistry, compound profiling, and phytochemical methods.2) Acquire hands-on experience in antimicrobial assays and data interpretation.3) Develop skills in translating laboratory results into eco-friendly agricultural products.Intern's Responsibilities:1) Conduct laboratory experiments including compound extraction, isolation, and characterization.2) Perform antifungal bioassays, record observations, and analyze results statistically.3) Contribute to the development of prototype formulations and prepare technical reports summarizing findings.
